A.M. in Real Detroit

|

Check us out in the 4 Play of REAL DETROIT the Oct. 7 edition with Where The Wild Things Are on the cover.  Here’s the article:

In the music industry, if you’re part of a group, the most important thing has to be longevity and chemistry. So when you’ve been boys with your rhyming partner since elementary school and have known each other over 18 years, that can be the best formula to a group’s success. Abrasive Method (Charlie Beans and Tony Franks) became passionate and addicted to making hip-hop in 2000, then released their first album 4 A.M in 2004. They followed up in 2006 with Most Dangerous Game, also putting out last year’s free-online album Lucky #13. “In the long run, if you’re patient with a project or a song and you put your entire heart into it, you hear it in the music,” Tony Franks tells us.

Franks and Beans have been working on November’s release of Living a Nightmare, Chasing the Dream, the duo’s best work to date, that relates to anyone who is trying to achieve their goals. Beans explains, “We want to grow as artists, continue to try new things and be the best people we can be.” They’re making waves with the Apollo Brown produced video/single “Rescue,” a track based around the premise of not waiting around and complaining about what you don’t have. See AM rock with Rakim Thursday, October 7, at The Crofoot. More info: www.abrasivemethod.com.  | RDW

There’s also an article about Hex Murda and a show @ St. Andrew’s Hall on Oct. 17th to help his medical condition.  Also, an article on Paradime and his recent brush with death…again.  Thanks to Origix for hooking up the article.  Yes, we know the picture is only of me, and we planned it that way.  Just kidding, the photo got cropped and damnit to all hell I wish it was him not me.

RAKIM IS TOMORROW.  Thanks to everyone who has helped us sell tickets considering we’ve almost sold out!  We appreciate all the support that you’re giving us, and are excited about tomorrow.  It’d be nice if we didn’t both have to work day of, but that’s what we do best.  Once again, the show is @ the Crofoot Ballroom in downtown Pontiac.  Doors are @ 8PM, and we suggest getting there early.  Tix are $18 and slightly higher @ the door.  18+ show.  SEE YOU THERE.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the DIME show even after finding out he had been hospitalized. The night still went well, and your boys killed it per usual. Thanks to Kevin for hooking everything up.

We’re moving. Yes, AM along with Tony’s brother will be re-locating to the East Side in October. I’m not going to lie when I say life has also taken over this album in true “Nightmare” form, but we have plenty of new material, not to mention our album to share with you.
Yea, this post is kinda sporadic, but I’ve been like that recently. I also tried to avoid my text talk to make sure this was gramatically correct. Ironically, I didn’t use spell check. Thanks for checking in.

ARTWORK ON IT’S WAY…

Just got a pretty thorough album cover from SKRAPZ, and are quite excited to get the album finished and released within the next month.  With that being said, be on the lookout for our video for RESCUE on AM.com, YouTube, & all that extra shit.  The single will also be available for free download on our site.  Pre-orders for Living A Nightmare, Chasing The Dream will be available soon.

A.M. Interview by Robo Robb

|

Check out our interview with Robo Robb @ http://roboblog.hihillrecordings.com and scroll for us.  If you’re interested in what’s going on with Living A Nightmare… and just want to get to know us better, this is the interview for you.  He couldn’t post it on his radio show b/c unbeknownst to ourselves, but white trash cannot be said on college radio.  Who knew?  Anyways, check it out and know VLOG12 is coming we promise!

Show/Update On Album

|

It’s been a sec since we’ve done an update, so I figured I’d holler.  VLOG11 is just to your right below if you want to preview our latest song which is Chasing The Dream.  Our video for our single Rescue is finished and in our hands.  We are going to release the video about a month before we release Living A Nightmare… We will also post the song for free download @ AM.com.

SHOW FRI 9/11 @ Hayloft

That’s right we’re taking it to the East for a show @ the Hayloft in Mt. Clemens with the one and only PARADIME.  Hands down one of my favorite artists in MI, Dime’s been putting in work for quite some time.  He’s also known as the DJ for Kid Rock.  His album, Paragraphs, was so influential for me growing up and taking in local music.  Dime hasn’t stopped putting out solid albums for years.  Check his page @ www.dimesworld.com

Also performing is Quest MCODY, D.Allie, & Marv Won.  All those guys I believe are Twitterholics, so check for them on there.  DJ AMF will be spinning the finest music all evening.  This will be a show you don’t want to miss!  Flyer will be posted soon as well as more info TBA.

Album Album Album

We have not been bullshitting you people;  our album is finished and will be out soon.  We’re working on several different things right now, and are keeping most stuff on the low key until we’re all settled.  Just know your boys A.M. are coming with our best material to date, and a truly special album.  We just want to make sure everything is promoted right, and all of our ducks are in line.  I’m not trying to be vague, but…well, I guess I am trying to be vague b/c I’m not letting the cat out of the bag.

Look for our single Rescue for download shortly, and VLOG12 will be on its’ way also.  We were supposed to shoot it up north, but got too drunk and forgot.  Things happen.  As always, if you want to hit us up check us @ FACEBOOK or abrasivemethod@gmail.com

If you need beats please contact me b/c I’ve got some shit right now.

Several Random Things…

|

First, our video for Rescue is almost complete;  we should have a copy to preview in the next week.  The video will be available to everyone else shortly after, but not until Living A Nightmare… is totally set.  We want to thank director John Schweitzer for all his time and effort into the video.  We’re very excited and have the utmost confidence that the video will even more fly than we expect.

As of now, it appears that the album is going to come out in Fall.  We’ve been taking our time with everything and appreciate everybody’s patience upon the release.  It will be worth the wait.  We’ve had a couple of potential opportunites that have come our way, and we’re attempting to time the album with these events.  Also, we just went to Skrapz‘s house a couple nights ago and discussed the artwork for Living A Nightmare… again, and feel as though we have a clear idea of how we want everything to look.  There should be a cover for the album in the next few weeks.  We will also be taking pre-orders for the album, as well as a release date on itunes, rhapsody, etc. to get indiviual songs, or cop the whole album.

This Saturday, July 25th, we’re playing the Corktown Music Festival around 5pm.  This is an all day event celebrating the history of Corktown and the D.  The hip hop stage was put together late, so that’s why this is the first mentioning of it.  What beats a Saturday in Historic Detroit drinking brew and basking in the Michigan sun?  For more info on the festival hit up www.corktownmusicfestival.com or just hit us up on FB, email, etc.  THIS EVENT IS FREE!

Yes, we are aware that the Vlogs have slowed down slightly.  To be honest, they’ve slowed down because we’ve been trying to get other facets of the album together, but will try to stay on task as possible.  We just finished up Vlog 11 and will be available next week to check out.  If you haven’t checked out Vlog 10, it’s the making of our video shoot, all the way down to our Caddy breaking down several times and the animosity that comes with that.  It’s an extended vlog, so it should keep you entertained for a couple more days.

A.M. is the featured artist of August @ Northern Lites Lounge in Detroit, and will be performing Tuesday, August 25th @ “Things Done Changed” which is a weekly hip hop night featuring DJs Uncle Paulie and Equad.  Paulie is like my older brother and has been holding down this night for over three years.  Even with the ups and downs of hosting a night for so long, the two have stuck together in holding the best Tuesday in Michigan.  This is also HANDS DOWN my favorite bar in Detroit with a lowkey vibe and great drink prices.  Paulie also just spun @ the Cityfest over the 4th of July which was great for a guy who’s been making music and DJing for YEARS helping our scene evolve.  To top it off, Paulie did one beat on Living A Nightmare… entitled Number Two.  Northern Lites is located @ 660 Baltimore in Detroit.  THIS EVENT IS FREE!

Besides working on our own album, as well as Tony’s solo efforts, I’ve worked with these artists recently: Madio aka TexT, D.Allie, MC Tay, Rtikul8, Midcoast Most, AJAX, Sterling White, Aztek, Ella Duval, and Uncle Paulie.  There might be a couple more, but you can look for my beats on upcoming songs from all those people, as well as some new ish in the works I’m sure.

Real long update, but partially needed.  I tried to update on my phone last night and it timed out in which I mumbled “fuck my life” more than once.  Thanks for staying in the loop.  Holler.
