2-24-11 STRUTT

It’s been some time since I’ve updated AM.com and that’s for a specific reason.  We’ve been utilizing our new label’s page www.Five30Music.com for all upcoming information regarding Abrasive Method, as well as our other artists S.White and Madio.  We will still be updating our homepage periodically, but only for major news.  Head over to Five30 for weekly updates, new music, video, and other updates regarding your boys.

ABRASIVE METHOD SOLO PROJECTS.

Tony has been working on his solo album entitled PROJECT PHOENIX for some time, and is about halfway through.  This album is not a TONY FRANKS solo, moreso his transition into PROJECT PHOENIX where you will see exponential growth in his songwriting, singing, and content. Producers lined up for his album so far are Charlie Beans, Eddie Logix, & B.Gozza. A couple more producers are involved with the music, but nothing is locked in yet.  The music for PROJECT PHOENIX is a fresh outlook on our brand of alternative hip hop, and is sure to open some ears to Tony work as a solo artist.

I’ve been gathering beats for my own solo projects.  The first of which, is an untitled EP which will be produced by outside producers.  My first official solo album, entitled Anti-Love Hero will be produced entirely by myself.  Neither album has a specific date, but both should see the light of day in 2011.

Abrasive Method is still going strong, but we wanted to work on our own projects after four albums, countless shows, and unreleased music.  We both want to expand our horizons and work on our own solo albums, although we are both heavily involved in each other’s music.  Stay tuned for the final videos from the WHA.M. Weekend Tour, as well as videos for our upcoming new music.

That’s basically it.  Just wanted to shed some light on a couple of things.

“The Last Boy Scout” 11/20 @ Berkley Front!

|

11-20-10 Berkley S.White

This is the first release on our new music endeavor entitled FIVE30Music.  We do have the website, but it is going to be unveiled the same day as S.White’s release party;  Saturday, November 20.

The basic idea of FIVE30Music is to release music constantly by different artists for free.  No, that does not mean we don’t put any money into the projects themselves at all.  It’s quite opposite.  There is money being spent, but that’s not important.  We’re putting our heart and souls into our music, and want to reach as many listeners as possible.   We want to give you, the people, an opportunity to get our music as accessible as possible.  In turn, FIVE30Music will be giving away NEW music every three to four months from our artists.

Currently, the roster for FIVE30Music is: Abrasive Method (A.M.), S.White, Madio Aka TexT, Project Phoenix, & Charlie Beans.

Honestly, we’re learning as we go.  We want to give you plenty of different angles on the people who make the music you’re listening to or at least checking out.  We hope to grow and be able to promote our releases more vividly and with supporting tours.  We will continue to build with artists out of state and get the artists of FIVE30Music on the road.

“THE LAST BOY SCOUT” Album…

S.White has been a long contributor to Abrasive Method’s goals and is a mentor of sorts.  We’ve been working together since 2002, and S.White’s group, THE L.Y.N.X. helped introduce A.M. to the Detroit hip hop scene.  He’s also been helping us on the business side of our music, and a close friend.

“The Last Boy Scout” was produced by myself, and A.M. is the only feature on the album also.  After six years, with Steve being in and out of rapper consciousness, we finally finished his album.  I couldn’t be more proud of an album we’ve ever put out, and am so happy to contribute so heavily to his project.  Now he feels rejuvinated and is ready to release more music as well as the business side.  S.White aka Steve is truly a great person and incredibly talented artist.

Anyways, hope to see you Saturday for the release party.  It’ll be a truly special night!

A.M. Thanksgiving Eve @ Camp Ti.

|

Party local for the biggest bar night of the year! If you’re in town, stop by Camp Ticonderoga and have a drink with your boys. This event is also FREE!

For the second year, we’ve been asked to rock Camp Ti on Thanksgiving Eve. We’re really excited to do a show in at home, and see people we don’t normally get to. Be one of them!

There’s going to be plenty of drink specials, but really it’s cool for people who don’t normally listen to hip hop, or have never seen us perform have the opportunity to do so. Last year, there were a couple of my good friends’ parents came to see what we do and it was cool to be supported like that. It was also the first time my parents saw us perform. Although not a regular venue, the vibe is good and the ambiance is original to say the least. Hope to see you out. Pass this on to anybody; including your rents if you know us.

Thanks to Bookie’s, DJ Katalist & Bang Tech 12, Skrapz, and everybody who checked us out last night. We had a great time, probably had too many drinks, and also won the costume prize for best duo. I was “The Dude” and Tony was “Walter” from THE BIG LEBOWSKI.

Check us out at The Berkley Front Sat. November 20th for S.White’s “LAST BOY SCOUT” Album Release Party.

A.M. @ Bookie’s Devil’s Night with DJ Katalist.

If you’re downtown this Saturday, stop through Bookies for their annual Halloween party.  This year, your boys A.M. will be doing a special performance.  DJ Katalist of Bang Tech 12, and a couple other DJs also going in.  Get your costume game right.  We have free passes to anyone who is interested in getting into Bookies for free.  Hit us up.

Peep this mediocre ass flyer by Katalist lol:

We have a couple of other events going on also.  FINALLY S.White’s album “THE LAST BOY SCOUT” is going to be released!  This album is six years in the making and is produced entirely by myself.  It is probably my favorite album I’ve worked on up to this point.  The release party is going to be Saturday, November 20th @ The Berkley Front.

I’m so honored to have worked with Steve, who is more than just a mentor/artist to me, but a close friend who has helped guide me as a person.  The album will be available for free at Five30Music.com;  our newly formed label.  We are featured on the track “Fool For You.”  I’ll update when the album is available for download.

Check the flyer:

I know this is kind of an update out of nowhere, but sometimes I have so much going on that I don’t even think to update b/c I’m constantly starting/finishing things.  I’ve been working on these things:

AJAX’s album Mainstream Pollution Chapter 2 came out this past Tuesday.   I recorded/mixed most of this album, as well as produced around six tracks for it.  One song, “Kill Or Be Killed” I produced features DETROIT LEGEND and a personal favorite of mine PARADIME.  It was a pleasure to get Dime to bless one of my beats.  Daddy X of Kottonmouth Kings, and your boys Abrasive Method (A.M.) also are featured on this album.

Check out the album artwork/flyer:

AJ PHP

I’m also working with VISUAL from Chicago.  We linked up over the summer doing the WHA.M. weekend Tours.  I did a remix for his upcoming album “OVERTIME” called ‘Bills.”

Peep the album artwork:

Some other artists I’m working with include:

SKRAPZ, Madio, MC Tay, Progress Report (D.Allie & Eddie Logix), & Marty Magz.  I also have a couple other tracks being worked on by other out of state artists, but things are still in the air.  Look for these projects to be coming out in 2011.

TONY FRANKS is Project Phoenix:

TONY

Project Phoenix will be the second release from Five30 Music.  Look for his album to be out in Winter 2011.  So far we have five songs recorded, and is looking like it’s going to be a truly unique and powerful project.  Tony is stepping out of his confines and really trying to work on his solo project in a different light.  You have to appreciate that.

Hopefully I’ll start blogging a little more.  Also, look for the launch of Five30Music.com coming soon.  There will be nothing but FREE music for our listeners who support us.

Until next time…

Dear Summer…

WHA.M. Weekend Part 2 was about as good a success as we could have hoped for considering it we can still count on our hands how many times we’ve played out of state. We made enough money to cover the expenses of travelling to and fro MO.

The people in both St. Louis and Columbia were incredible. Everyone was receptive, and really got us to come out of our shells. Honestly, we haven’t networked so effortlessly in such a long time (minus a couple of people who just happen to be good friends).

Anyways, we just wanted to thank everybody that we met on our journey to the “Show Me State.” There is some great music being made there, and I’m excited an eager to work with some artists from the area, as well as bring them back to Michigan.

We took a lot of footage from the road and we’ll be doing some editing, but it looks like a vlog is coming soon.

As of now, we are going to chill on shows locally unless something that is a great opportunity pops up. We’re deciding to get back in the studio and work on a couple more songs, and hopefully get you a free EP by year’s end.

Stay tuned…and thanks for checking in.

TONIGHT WHA.M. WEEKEND TOUR PART 2 BEGINS.

|

After a nine plus hour journey to St. Louis, we are about to rock @ the Gramophone. In fact, we’re supposed to be leaving right now. Rockwell Knuckles, Tef Poe, & Family Affair are also performing. We’ve already shot some interesting footage from our journey here, and expect more to come. For the latest updates of our travels over the weekend, hit up our facebook.com/abrasivemethod …SEE YOU SOON!

WHA.M. Weekend Part 2

|

This upcoming week begins our WHA.M. Weekend Tour Part 2.  Some things got moved around, but here’s what’s going on.

THURSDAY, JULY 22 @ THE GRAMOPHONE

4243 Manchester Ave.  ST LOUIS, MO

Other performances by Rockwell Knuckles, Tef Poe, Family Affair, Spark1Duh?, & KD Assassin.  DJ Who Spinning.

Flyer to come…

FRIDAY, JULY 23 @ THE BLUE NOTE

Blue Note - IndyGround

There might be a couple other shows popping up, but these are confirmed.  Our show at Pop’s fell through unfortunately, but good people live in St. Louis and we’re playing the Gramophone now!  Google the artists above;  there’s some cool music.

I really do hope to actually get some decent footage while on the trip, although we can’t ever count on ourselves to point the camera at the other.  Maybe some good stuff will happen.

Thanks to everybody who came out to see STEDDY P., DJ-Mahf, & Far Out last Saturday.  Holler.
